The article focuses on a packaging design project for a local speciality blueberry souvenir from Daxinganling,Heilongjiang Province,from the perspectives of "pushing the envelope" and "newness".The article explores and analyses new ideas and methods for redesigning the packaging of local specialties in a new context.The packaging design case is linked from local cultural knowledge to design innovation,and from regional cultural research to sustainable development.The article also explores how to optimise and update the design of local speciality packaging.Through the excavation,capture and extension of Gagdachi’s regional cultural elements,the article develops a unique packaging design with cultural vitality and connotation,and realises the heritage and evolution of the "Gagdachi" souvenir packaging.The article combines cultural elements with souvenir packaging design to create a sense of identity for the product,giving the souvenir packaging a unique cultural flavour and enhancing the market competitiveness of the souvenir.This packaging design is based on the blueberry speciality "Gagdache",using literature review,survey,case study and comparative analysis.Firstly,the regional cultural background of "Gagdachi",the types of local specialties and the psychological needs of consumers are analysed to fully understand the current situation of the packaging of "Gagdachi" local specialties: the current situation of the packaging of "Gagdachi" souvenirs is poor,brand awareness is gradually increasing,the basic functions of the packaging are relatively imperfect and the humanized design is poor.Secondly,the design theory proposes a design approach adapted to the special packaging of Gagdachi,namely: highlighting the visual expression of Gagdachi’s regional culture,enhancing the interactive experience of consumers and expanding their emotional experience.Finally,the practical part of the design is divided into different categories for the use of Gagdachi souvenirs.Through the comparison and analysis of similar products,issues related to the packaging of "Gagdachi" souvenirs are identified and specific design solutions are proposed.The aim is to achieve innovative forms of gift packaging and to provide a frame of reference for the development of theoretical research and application of gift packaging design.
