Local products play an important role as a carrier in the development of local economy. It represents the characteristics and the unique charm of a place. With the ages going, people are not satisfied with the pure local products consumptions, but pursuit richer culture and spiritual connotation. This prompts the producers, consumers and designers strengthen the importance of the packaging design of the local products, so that people gradually realized the importance of the packaging and are making improving efforts on it. As the Designers searching for the connotation and the beauty from the packaging designs of local products, the local products packaging industry is pending rise. People not only pay attention to regional traditional culture, but also are searching for the artistic taste hidden inside it. Therefore, local products packaging should be various in representation, and set up a local image in style to highlight a strong regional characteristics. And making the local products rich in the local image became a necessary way for development of local product packaging.Yanbian is especially rich in local products. However, the packaging of local products is not paid enough attention for quite a long time. There are still a series of problems such as low quality, bad brand image, lack of regional characteristics and so on. Combining theories and practices, this thesis mainly studies the representations of regional culture in the local product packaging. The author put forwards that the regional culture and the local product packaging are interdependent, and focused mainly on how to represent regional culture in the packaging originality, color, graphic design, and materials. Firstly, the author summarizes the definition and concept of packaging and characteristics of local products, and analyzes the close relations between the two, and summarizes the regional characteristics of local products, and analyzed the causes. Secondly, the author investigates and analyzes the actual state of local product package in Yanbian through market survey. Finally, the author studies how to represent regional culture in the local product package from the aspects of creative packaging, graphic design, modeling, color, and material. So that it can play the regional advantage in local product packaging and create its own brand, and play an important role in local economic development, and have its own place in the international culture background.
