This is a report on the translation of The Routledge Handbook of Conference Interpreting(Chapter 33-34),published by the Routledge in 2021 and mainly edited by Michaela Albl-Mikasa and Elisabet Tiselliusdai.This book includes 40 chapters,introducing the fundamentals,settings,regions,professional issues and research perspectives of conference interpreting.The source text consists of Chapters 33 and34.Chapter 33 introduces the background of eye-tracking on simultaneous interpreting,different visual inputs,multiple eye-trackers,eye-tracking measures,methodology challenges and core issues.Chapter 34 generalizes neuroimaging on simultaneous interpreting,neuroimaging methods,human language network and bilingual language control.This translation task can provide the latest academic reference for domestic interpreting researchers,assist professional interpreters and interpreter trainees in improving their expertise,and aid interpreting educators in updating the interpreting pedagogy.The translation project aims to solve two problems under the guidance of the Skopos Theory.Based on the Skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,the translator applies different translation techniques of annotation,restructuring,conversion and division to address the difficulties of terminology and long and complex sentences.The translation technique of annotation is associated with the Skopos rule and fidelity rule.The translation technique of conversion is associated with the coherence rule and fidelity rule.The translation technique of division is associated with the coherence rule and fidelity rule.The translation technique of restructuring is associated with the coherence rule and fidelity rule.This report can be divided into five parts.The first chapter introduces the translation project by explaining its background,significance and structure.The second chapter details the author,the book’s leading content and linguistic features.The third chapter elaborates on the Skopos Theory,its three rules and its application in this translation project.In chapter four,the difficulties are discussed,leading to the analysis of translation techniques employed to address these difficulties.The last chapter makes a summary of the experiences learned and problems to be solved. |
