There are a large number of synonyms in the Chinese vocabulary system,and synonyms play an important role in international Chinese vocabulary teaching.The study of foreign learners’ synonym errors can help teachers to formulate teaching measures in advance,improve teaching effectiveness and reduce learners’ synonym errors.At present,research on foreign learners’ synonym errors is mainly based on the written corpus,and there are few research results based on the spoken corpus.Therefore,it is worthwhile to further study the synonym error based on the spoken corpus of foreign Chinese learners.Informal Talks(Season 6.5)is an interview programme with foreign youth representatives,which contains authentic and rich spoken language materials of foreign Chinese learners,and can truly reflect their Chinese language level,word usage ability and synonym differentiation.Therefore,it is worthwhile to conduct a study of synonym errors based on the spoken corpus of Informal Talks(Season 6.5).This study uses the spoken dialogues of the young foreign delegates in the programme Informal Talks(Season 6.5)as the material for corpus analysis,and builds "the Spoken Corpus of Synonym Errors of Foreign Chinese Learners".After searching the corpus,we found that there were 101 instances of synonym errors in the spoken expressions of the 15 young foreign delegates,who are intermediate and advanced Chinese Learners.This study further analyses the causes of the errors in terms of Chinese synonym recognition,negative native language transfer,generalization of target language rules and communicative strategies in the context of the 15 young foreign delegates’ personal situations,so as to come up with some suggestions for international Chinese synonym teaching.This thesis is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the reasons for choosing the topic,the sources of language materials,and the current research status of synonym errors;The second part introduces the construction means,principles,and styles of the "the Spoken Corpus of Synonym Errors of Foreign Chinese Learners of Informal Talks";The third part classifies the errors in synonyms into three categories retrieved from the spoken corpus: rational meaning errors,additional meaning errors,and other synonym errors,and analyze with examples of errors;The fourth part analyzes and summarizes the reasons for the occurrence of synonym errors among foreign Chinese learners in the Informal Talks(Season 6.5),including unclear identification of synonyms,negative transfer of mother tongue,generalization of target language rules,and influence of communication strategy use;The fifth part proposes teaching suggestions from five aspects: teaching objects,teaching objectives,teaching content,teaching methods,and feedback on teaching effectiveness,based on instances of synonym errors and the reasons for the errors.The aim is to reduce synonym errors among Chinese Second Language Learners and provide certain teaching references for international Chinese synonym teaching;The sixth part is the conclusion of this study,summarizing the research conclusions and shortcomings.
