This is a translation project report, originally from Gaia Vince’s Nomad Century:How Climate Migration Will Reshape Our World,of which Chapters 5-6 are chosen as the source text. These two chapters mainly analyze the reasons for the social exclusion of immigrant population and the positive effect of immigration on the host countries. This translation project aims to improve the translation capability of the translator himself, and at the same time, the translator hopes that this translation project will enrich the literature in the relevant fields in China.According to Newmark’s text type theory, this text belongs to an informative text, and the translator should be oriented to the understanding and response of the target language readers in the translation process,so he adopts the communicative translation theory. The original text is difficult in translating as it involves a lot of rhetorical devices and complex sentences.Guided by communicative translation theory, the translator applies the method of liberal translation plus the change of metaphorical images in response to for the translation of rhetorical devices. For the translation difficulties in passive sentences, parentheses and attributive clauses in complex sentences, translation techniques such as conversion, inversion, division and restructuring are adopted. This report is composed of five chapters, namely, introduction to this project, analysis of the source text, proper guiding theory, translation difficulties, corresponding solutions, and conclusion.
