| Nomad Century: How Climate Migration Will Reshape Our World written by Gaia Vince is a book published in 2022 in which Gaia Vince introduced the extreme climate in various countries and the measures to mitigate the current climate crisis.Chapter 10,chapter 11 and chapter 12 of this book were chosen as the source text.The source text introduces the crisis and mitigation measures of human beings in food,energy,water and stuff under climate change and environmental degradation.The translation of this text and the thinking of the content can not only enrich the translation practice of the translator,but also allow the readers to reflect on the present ecological problems.In the process of translation,the translator realized that the great differences between Chinese and English in the three aspects: the lexical level,the syntactic level and the textual level,greatly affect the transmission of information.Therefore,according to the text function of the source text,the translator applied Newmark’s text typology theory to explore and analyze the key points and difficulties in translation at the three levels of lexica,syntax and discourse.At the lexical level,the translator mainly studied the translation of terms and the conversion of part of speech.At the syntactic level,the translator mainly explored addition,omission,adjustment of the word order and the translation of passive sentences.At the textual level,the translator explored the cohesion in the text.This report aims to apply Newmark’s text typology to solve the problems encountered in the process of translating the informative texts and strive to make the translation clear and easy to understand. |
