An Action Research On English Homework Design In Primary Schools

Abstract/Summary:
As an important part of teaching procedures,the homework will be absolutely affect students’ learning achievement.There is no doubt that the homework plays a significant role in cultivating students’ creative ability and developing their intelligence.In year of 2021,the government enacts a law named“Double Reduction” policy,which is to require regions to ease the burden of excessive homework and off-campus tutoring for students undergoing compulsory education.At the same time,the Ministry of Education has issued documents on homework,sleeping,cell phones usage,reading materials and physical fitness management.In these documents,there are 10 requirements for homework management in terms of outstanding problems such as excessive amount of homework,low quality and out of functions.However,currently,especially in rural primary schools,the design of homework is just "scratch through your boots " or "old wine in a new bottle" which means it is still in the traditional way to arrange homework.The problem is more serious as to the English homework in primary schools.This research is carried out by means of action research,using literature,text analysis,questionnaire survey,interview,mainly including the following five parts.The introduction analyzes the research background,research goal,research significance,concept definition,literature review,research ideas and research methods.In chapter one,the author finds out the problems of single type,low difficulty,biased cognition and single evaluation method in English homework design in primary school by questionnaire and text analysis.The second chapter,according to the status quo of the investigation focused on research issues,design research programs,the implementation of the first round of action research homework design.The third chapter,based on the results of the first round of action research to reflect on the need for improvement,and design the second round of action research program,the implementation of homework design research.Chapter Four,the analysis of the results after action research.Through the academic test,post-test and interviews,this paper analyzes the positive changes in students’ learning effect,attitude towards homework and interest in learning English.The fifth chapter,through the summary of action research,puts forward four points of thought and enlightenment,hoping to better promote teachers’ teaching and students’ learning,and also provide a reference for front-line teachers.
