With the promulgation of the "double reduction" policy,reducing the burden of students has become one of the important tasks.According to the policy,students in the upper grades of primary school are required to finish their assignments within one hour.And it’s difficult for teachers to let students finish their assignments in the limited time.Therefore,teachers need to design high quality assignment,so that students can get effectively extension after class and improve their comprehensive application ability of English learning.This research takes the high quality assignment design as a breakthrough to reduce students’ burden.By constructing the theoretical basis of high quality assignment design,this research aims to get to know the existing problems of high quality assignment design for upper grades English teachers in primary schools and provides some solutions for them.Through literature research method,this research sorts out and analyses the research findings in the field of assignment,assignment design and high quality assignment design at home and abroad.And it also determines the theoretical basis which is suitable for this study by combing the latest information of the "double reduction" policy with the comprehension to high quality assignment design.Through questionnaire method,this research chooses both teachers and students in the upper grades of primary school to hand out questionnaires in order to make a deep look about teachers’ behavior in high quality assignment design.Through interview method,this research makes a deep digging on teachers’ comprehension and attitude to high quality assignment design.Through text analysis method,this research analyses the situation on objective aspect,scientific aspect,structural aspect,selective aspect,diversity,difficult degree and finishing time systematically and objectively.It is found that teachers have some problems in the aspect of attitude,cognition and behavior.In terms of attitude,teachers have low sense of identity and low sense of design intention.In terms of cognition,teachers have one-sided understanding of high quality assignment and have incomplete design thoughts.In terms of behavior,teachers are poor in innovation and structure designing.Besides,they explain assignment objectives inadequately and misjudge the finishing time and challenges of assignments.For the above problems,author explores the reasons from school,teachers and parents to provide some strategies.On the school aspect,theoretical study and teaching research on assignment design should be increased.And it is also suggested to optimize assignment design examination and evaluation system.As to teachers themselves,they should form the habit of exploration and introspection about assignment design.They should lead students to face high quality assignments positively and collect students’ feedback in time.To parents,communicating more can improve their understanding of high quality assignment.And it is also necessary to make a synchronous assignment guidance and evaluation way both in school and at home. |
