| As English for Specific Purposes,medical English is more and more significant in related industries and branches of English for science and technology.With the growing international influence of Traditional Chinese Medicine,it is essential to explore its essence and value through the translation practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine classics.Therefore,this translation practice is based on the translation and introduction of the medical monograph Practice of Myopia,helping to trace the source of myopia for practitioners,educators and researchers in relevant fields from the perspective of ophthalmology,facilitating the internationalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine culture and promoting the exchange and progress of global medical course.Communicative Translation Theory highlights the response of readers and emphasizes that translated text has the same effect of information transmission on the target readers as the original text has on the source readers,which is consistent with the communicative needs generated in the international communication of domestic ophthalmology culture.Hence,combined with specific translation examples,this paper elucidates the essence of Communicative Translation Theory and its applicability in the translation of medical monographs and explores strategies for translating medical monographs into English.Specifically,amplification,omission,and part-of-speech conversion can make the target language clearer and smoother at the lexical level,improving the readability of translation;reorganization,division and voice conversion can reproduce the logic and meaning of the original text in syntax,enhancing the acceptability of translation;reference and substitution in grammatical cohesion,logical connectives cohesion,and reiteration in lexical cohesion can achieve the effect of discourse coherence,finally obtaining the communicative purpose of the translation.Through the translation practice,the translator has gained an in-depth understanding of the application value of Communicative Translation Theory and improved translation knowledge and skills.The exploration of translation problems and translation strategies will also provide experience and reference for translation practice of similar texts in the future. |
