An Investigation Into The Employment Competitiveness Of Postgraduates Majoring In Master Of Teaching Chinese To Speakers Of Other Languages

The article conducts questionnaire surveys and interviews with master’s degree students in Chinese international education(hereinafter referred to as "MTCSOL students")from Guangxi and some employers in Guangxi to understand the influence of students’ employment competitiveness on job search and employment,as well as the specific requirements and feedback of the local employment market for MTCSOL students.From the perspective of employment market demand,we explore the employment dilemma of MTCSOL students,from which we find that there are contradictions between various factors such as the professional ability,comprehensive quality ability,talent cultivation of universities,development of disciplines and social market demand and the employment dilemma of MTCSOL students.The questionnaire data were analyzed by using EXCEL and SPSS software,and the method of frequency analysis and cross-tabulation analysis was used to analyze that MTCSOL students generally have weak employment competitiveness,low willingness to further study,and unreasonable career planning.The universities have the deficiency of emphasizing theory over practice in talent training and neglecting to carry out effective career guidance for students.The limitations of academic development and the incomplete industry system lead to the narrowing of the channels for doctoral students and counterpart employment.The lack of awareness of the profession in the job market increases the obstacles to employment for MTCSOL students.In this regard,the article proposes that students and universities should take the employment market demand as the guide,pay attention to cultivating and improving the employment competitiveness in the study and internship practice of MTCSOL students,and the discipline construction and employment market should guide the society to correctly understand the MTCSOL major and promote high quality development of discipline,in order to solve the employment dilemma of MTCSOL students,and the purpose is to provide reference for solving the employment difficulties of MTCSOL students and promoting the healthy development of the discipline.
