Teacher burnout will have a negative impact on the physical and mental development of teachers and students,which has attracted widespread attention in the society.Due to the impact of COVED-19,international Chinese teaching has shifted from offline to online.Therefore,this paper explores the situation of burnout among international Chinese teachers in online teaching,finds out the influencing factors of online and international Chinese teacher burnout,conducts in-depth analysis,finds out the causes,and then proposes corresponding countermeasures.In this paper,we investigated the burnout of 171 intern Chinese teachers teaching online through an empirical study and found that 87.72% of the teachers had burnout after analysis with SPSS software,but the overall level of burnout was mild(2.93±0.85).Of the three dimensions of burnout,the degree of emotional exhaustion(3.02±0.93)was more severe.The paper explored the factors influencing online international Chinese teachers’ burnout from three aspects: teachers,students and online teaching platforms.The analysis of the survey results showed that: at the teacher level,gender did not have a significant effect on online international Chinese teachers’ burnout,but internship pathways,length of online Chinese teaching,and teachers’ medium language level all had significant effects on online international Chinese teachers’ burnout.At the student level,the age of students,whether students turn on the microphone and camera,and whether there is time difference during teaching all have significant effects on online international Chinese teachers’ burnout.In terms of the online teaching platform,whether teachers produce lesson materials,the amount of weekly lesson time,the length of lesson preparation,attitudes towards salary levels,teachers’ proficiency in operating the teaching platform,whether the network and computers often lag or not,and whether the features of the online teaching platform can meet teaching needs all have significant effects on online international Chinese teachers’ burnout.In order to alleviate the burnout of online international Chinese teachers,this paper interviewed the results of the survey analysis and identified the causes of online international Chinese teachers’ burnout,including teachers’ personal incompetence and inexperience,the pressure caused by communication with parents,the excessive amount of class time,the lack of online international Chinese teaching resources,the inadequacy of online teaching software functions,the low salary level of teachers,and the influence of time difference,etc.Finally,recommendations were made at the level of individual teachers,online Chinese language teaching platforms and colleges.
