The continuous decline in fertility and the gradual decrease in the number of marriage registrations indicate that people’s views on marriage and love are constantly changing.Previous research on the concept of marriage and love has mostly focused on disciplines such as sociology and ideological and political education. Therefore,it is necessary to investigate and understand the public’s concept of marriage and love from a psychological perspective. This study is divided into three parts:First research divides the main dimensions of the questionnaire by reviewing previous research and combining the results of open-ended interviews, forming a predictive questionnaire for the public’s views on marriage and love.Exploratory factor analysis was conducted on the pre questionnaire to determine the final items of the public’s concept of marriage and love, and reliability and validity tests were conducted to form a formal questionnaire that conforms to the public’s concept of marriage and love.Second research used a self-designed questionnaire to investigate the development status and characteristics of the public’s concept of marriage and love, and explore the differences in the concept of marriage and love among different populations.Third research uses the various dimensions of the marriage and love concept questionnaire as the design basis for group counseling, conducts group psychological counseling to enhance marriage and love intention, and explores the feasibility and effectiveness of group counseling experiments designed around various dimensions of marriage and love concept to enhance marriage and love intention.Based on the research results, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The questionnaire on public attitudes towards marriage and love includes seven dimensions:economic cost orientation, social demand orientation, emotional identity orientation, cognitive idealization orientation, mate selection orientation, fertility orientation, and sexual orientation. The exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis indicate that the formal questionnaire has good reliability and validity.(2)There are differences in the public view of marriage and love in terms of marital status, only child status, actual residence, and age.In terms of marital status, unmarried participants are more certain of the emotional value of romantic relationships than married participants, emphasizing the emotional experience and value that romantic relationships can bring; In terms of whether they are only children or not,non only children are more aware of the practical significance of childbirth and pay more attention to the material foundation of childbirth; In terms of actual residence, urban residents have significantly higher identification with economic cost orientation and fertility orientation than urban residents, and their willingness to marry and love is significantly higher than urban and rural residents; In terms of age, participants under the age of 28 have a more open and inclusive attitude towards sex.(3)When facing issues of mate selection and childbirth, people pay more attention to practical issues such as economic costs and material living standards.Economic cost orientation, fertility orientation, and social demand orientation can negatively predict the level of marriage and love intention. The more romanticized the concept of marriage and love, the more emphasis is placed on practical factors, and the lower the willingness to engage in marriage and love.(4)Group psychological counseling can improve the levels of various dimensions of the concept of marriage and love, and enhance the willingness to engage in marriage and love.
