A Report On Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of TCM Fighting Against COVID-19 Webinar

The international dissemination of TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine)has played a positive role in demonstrating the confidence of the Chinese nation and introducing Chinese culture to the international community.As a treasure of Chinese culture,TCM is once again attracting attention from other countries and is highly appreciated for its efficacy and safety.This report details a task for consecutive interpreting based on a webinar on TCM’s role in the fighting against COVID-19 pandemic.Through simulated interpreting practice and case analysis,the author aimed to discuss the interpreting skills under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory.These interpreting skills can be used to dealing with TCM jargons,culturally loaded words,and redundancy.Afterwards,the author applied various interpreting techniques,such as free translation,generalization,omission and information reorganization.Additionally,the author wants to do what she could for the promotion of the TCM to a global audience with the hope that its benefits will be recognized by a wider range of people.Finally,the author also aspires for the relevant cases and reflections to serve as references for interpreters specializing in the field of TCM.
