Integration Of Tradition And Modernity

At the beginning of the 20 th century,Western art gradually presented a pattern of a hundred schools of thought competing.Painting shifted from reproducing the objective world to expressing the artist’s personality,and modern art trends continued to impact traditional painting art.However,despite being in such an era,British painter Euan Uglow did not follow the trend,but constantly drew nourishment from traditional painting and cleverly combined modern painting concepts to explore a highly rational artistic path.His paintings exhibit a serene,rational,rigorous,and profound elegance,yet they are highly contemporary and stand out in their artistic style.This article analyzes the artistic characteristics of Euan Uglow’s paintings and,combined with the author’s creative practice,tells the inspiration of Uglow to my creation.This article consists of three chapters.The first chapter analyzes the causes of Euan Uglow’s painting style,and narrates it from his mentor and his personal subjective aesthetic pursuit.Chapter 2 analyzes and interprets Euan Uglow’s painting works from three aspects: composition,shape,and color.The third chapter elaborates on the inspiration of Uglow’s paintings to my personal creation through a series of works by the author,from two aspects: modeling language and color.Finally,the author reflects and summarizes his creative practice.
