| The world is in the process of transition from brown to green economy. In this context, the translation project selects the first chapter of Renewable Energy Law and Development:Case Study Analysis as the translation material, mainly analyzing renewable energy projects in China, which aims to help understand relevant policies, current situation and future trend of renewable energy. The selected chapter introduces the current situation of biogas, solar energy, photovoltaic and other projects, which has remarkable characteristics of technical texts. This paper summarizes the characteristics of technical texts and expounds the three rules of Skopos Theory: Skopos rule,Coherence rule and Fidelity rule, and their guiding significance to the translation. In the process of translation, the translator should first follow Skopos rule and when Skopos rule conflicts with the other rules,Skopos rule should be taken priority. Then, the translator should follow Coherence rule to ensure the coherence, readability and acceptability of the translation. In addition, the translator also needs to follow Fidelity rule to be faithful to the content of the source text and the author’s intention.Skopos Theory requires translators to choose specific translation strategies and methods according to specific translation purposes. With the method of case study and the Skopos Theory as the theoretical guidance, the report analyzes the excerpted texts from lexical, syntactic and discourse levels. In the process of translation,it flexibly combines literal translation and free translation, and adopts translation methods such as amplification, omission, extension, change of voice and reconstruction,so as to make the translation accurate and smooth, easy for readers to receive and understand, and better convey information of renewable energy law and programs. It is hoped that this translation report can provide a new case and reference for translation of relevant texts. |
