Study On "Zhong Xing" Thought Of Xunzi

As the imperial army of Confucianism in the pre—Qin period,Xuncius’s thought of " Zhongxing" was originated on the basis of summarizing the previous thoughts of The "middle way" and combining the trend of The Times and practical problems,which has a historical origin in theory.In general,the development history of "Zhongxing" etymology is undoubtedly the indirect source of Xuncius’s thought of "Zhongxing",the thought of "Zhongxing" is mainly reflected as following the "middle way".Concretely speaking,Xuncius’s thought of "Zhongxing" is directly inherited thoughts of " middle way" that from The Book Of Documents,The Book Of Changes,Analects of Confucius and The Golden Mean.In Xuncius’s thought,the unique connotation of "Zhongxing" is mainly reflected in the "Zhongxing" in the cognition level,"Zhongxing" in the human nature level,"Zhongxing" in the ethics level and "Zhongxing" at the political level.among these,"Zhongxing" at the Political level manifests the "Zhongxing" of respecting the king and loving the people,the "Zhongxing" of respecting monarch and loving people,the "Zhongxing" of paying attention to law and rite of,which not only embodied the "middle way" of the combination of the moral idealism and the realistic political principle,but also the characteristics of Xuncius’s political philosophy.On the one hand,"Zhongxing" is not only an individual moral character and moral realm,but also a practical method and result in real politics,which shows that "Zhongxing" can obtain realistic character in individual activities;on the other hand,"Zhongxing" is rarely done.Therefore,from the practical results,this means that there are obstacles to realize the "Zhongxing".In Xuncius,the obstacles of "Zhongxing" are "evil in human nature ","group but not points",and " deceive ";and the way to achieve "middle" is following the rite and justice,attaching importance to teacher and friends,keeping your heart pure,clean and empty by meditation.Xuncius’s thought of "Zhongxing" also has an important influence on the later generations.Including Lu Jia,a disciple of Xuncius,Jia Yi and Dong Zhongshu,who respected Xuncius’s thought.Their thoughts of "Zhongxing" were influenced by Xuncius’s thought of "Zhongxing" to varying degrees.These influences are mainly manifested as follows: on the premise of establishing "benevolence and righteousness" as the core of "Taoism",Lu Jia’s "Taoism" theory can be regarded as the inheritance of Xuncius’s thought of "rite governance".Jia Yiren’s idea of combining benevolence and punishment,combining rites and law is the inheritance of the thought of "Zhongxing" that unified Xuncius with "paying attention to rite and emphasizing law".Xuncius’s interpretation of "middle way" with "ritual righteousness" is the theoretical basis of Lu Jia and Jia Yi paying attention to "ritual rule".In addition,unlike Xuncius’s thought of "Zhongxing" from the perspective of "heaven and man",Dong zhongshu’s thougt of "Zhongxing" from the theory of heaven and man induction.Taking "heaven" as "zhong" is actually taking "Confucianism" as "zhong",and "heaven" becomes the spokesperson of Confucianism,which has realized the inheritance and innovation of Xuncius’s thought of "Zhongxing" at "respecting the king" and "loving the people".
