At present,COVID-19 epidemic is raging on the earth,seriously affecting people’s daily life and causing a global economic recession.Shutdown: How Covid Shook the World’s Economy is a book written by British historian Adam Tooze in 2021.The book clarifies the impact of the global outbreak of COVID-19 on the economies of various countries and economic strategies.The content of the translation practice report is selected from the fourth and fifth chapters of the original book,and the translation practice is guided by the identification theory.“Identification” is the core of Kenneth Burke’s rhetorical thoughts and an important branch of contemporary rhetoric,which has attracted the attention of scholars in the field of translation studies in recent years.The report on translation practice examines the translation of economic texts from the perspective of Burke’s rhetorical identification theory,and summarizes the guiding significance of identification theory for the translation of economic texts.In the practice of economic text translation,we should attach great importance to the target audience,so as to get rid of the status of passive acceptance,and focus on building the identification between the audience and the author.The translation practice report is guided by the inaccuracy identification and conventional form.During the translation process,the translator found that the sympathy identification in the identification theory is not suitable for the guidance of economic text translation.Translator adopts objective identification in the previous research results.The objective identification method is developed and applied to the translation of economic texts for its logic and accuracy.The translator adopts translation strategies such as person pronoun conversion,supplement,voice conversion,and part-ofspeech conversion to achieve the identification between the readers and the author.The translator studies the translation of economic texts on the basis of sorting out the identification theory,which is consistent with the point of view that the identification theory is projected into the field of translation.
