English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 Edition,2020Revision)puts forward a view of Activity-based English learning,which is integrated by six elements,namely,subject context,discourse type,language knowledge,cultural knowledge,language skills and learning strategies,and points to the development of subject core literacy.However,in the process of the implementation,there still exists the phenomenon of test-oriented language knowledge teaching and learning.This kind of teaching design shows a certain tendency of fragmentation in the English education in senior high schools.The implementation of Activity-based English Learning in the normal reading teaching is still facing obstacles,and lacks effective ways and strategies.This paper adopts the method of Lesson Study,the participants are students from two parallel classes in a high school in Hubei,and the teaching materials are chosen from a drama text and a narrative text.The author applies the three levels of learning activities to design and implement the teaching.The paper mainly adopts Professor An’s Lesson Study Model for research:(1)Establish the research topic;(2)Cooperate to design teaching plans;(3)Implement classroom observation;(4)Carry out after-school seminars;(5)Write research reports.This paper puts forward the following two research questions:1.Based on the Concept of Activity-based English Learning,what are senior high students’ attitudes towards these three activities? And how do they perform on the reading class? Are the reading teaching objectives achieved?2.Based on the Concept of Activity-based English Learning,what are the enlightenment and significance for senior high school English teachers? Does it promote teachers’ own development?This study shows that students have a strong interest in English reading under the guidance of Concept of Activity-based English Learning,and they can actively participate in class.They can correctly express their opinions,intentions and emotional attitudes and values.They can also develop diversified thinking and critical thinking,and improve their ability to solve problems in real life in English.Through different levels of learning activities,they can gradually realize the teaching purpose and finally implement the core quality.Teachers need to delve into the text deeply,create a reasonable teaching design according to the internal logical structure,stylistic features and language forms of the text,accurately convey the connotation of the text to students in class,analyze and judge the meaning of the theme,and guide students to solve practical problems with the knowledge that they have learned. |
