This thesis took activity-based approach to English learning as the theoretical framework,and a two-month lesson study on integrating reading with writing teaching on students in a class of Senior Grade One was conducted.Through three cycles of teaching implementation and improvement,this study aims to improve the problems existing in students’ writing.On the one hand,by observing students’ participation in class,feedback on the teaching effect of practicing activity-based approach to English learning would be obtained,so as to reflect and improve the design of learning activities,and closely integrate reading and writing activities to pave the way for writing.On the other hand,according to the existing three aspects of students’ writing problems identified in the interview with the instructor,namely major points,language expression and writing structure,after each cycle of teaching,the author analyzed which kinds of input students can accurately apply from reading to writing,and where there was room for improvement,so as to improve learning activities and improve students’ writing problems.The research findings showed that in integrating reading with writing teaching based on activity-based approach to English learning,learning and understanding activities were the basis and premise of learning activities.And students actively obtained the major points,structure and language support for writing through reading and activities.Under this premise,students were willing and actively involved in applying and practicing activities,practicing the obtained knowledge,so as to establish close connection between reading and writing and pave the way for accurate output in writing.Based on these,in transfer and innovation activities,students were able to actively apply the knowledge obtained from reading to writing.In addition,regarding the effective connection between reading input and writing output,through composition analysis,it was found that through integrating reading with writing teaching based on activity-based approach to English learning,most of the students were able to effectively apply the major points,language expression and writing structure obtained from reading to writing.And after each cycle of teaching implementation,students’ ability of accurately applying input to writing has improved,especially in the aspects of language expression and writing structure,and their existing writing problems have been improved.
