With the further development of globalization,the desire for Chinese language learning continues to flourish in various countries.Meanwhile,online international Chinese language education has become even hotter,which is the result of the digital development of International Chinese Language Education(formerly Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages,Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language).At present,under the background of the hot development of online international Chinese language education classes,there is an immediate need for a special top-level design of online Chinese language courses.In this thesis,the use of English as a medium of instruction in online Chinese language classes at the elementary level is controversial,and the author’s educational background and internship experience are used as examples at three universities in Liaoning province: Liaoning University,Shenyang Normal University and Anshan Normal University.As examples,a research study combining theory and practice,interviews,questionnaires and classroom observations with bilateral participation of teachers and students abroad was conducted.The study analyses the specificity and necessity of English medium-assisted teaching in online elementary stage Chinese speaking classes,concludes that online elementary stage Chinese speaking classes need to use English medium appropriately within a reasonable range is drawn,and suggests strategies for exactly how to use it,how much to use it and the development of teachers’ related competencies.This thesis is divided into the following five parts:The introductory chapter is to clarify the background of the study and the origin of the selected topic,the significance of the study,the history and current status of related research,and the research methodology.Chapter 1 introduces the concepts of Media language and English media language,and the objects of using English media language,the necessity of using English media language for online Chinese teaching and the relevant theoretical basis of this study.Chapter 2 investigates and analyzes the use of English medium in online elementary stage Chinese speaking classes in three colleges and universities in Liaoning,introducing the basic profiles of international students and their speaking teachers at the elementary level in three colleges and universities in Liaoning,and conducting a questionnaire survey for students and an interview survey for teachers.The survey data were analyzed to show the existence of tendency consistent and inconsistent results between teachers and students bilaterally,as well as the differences in attitudes and the challenges of teaching spoken Chinese language online.Chapter 3 carries out the actual classroom observation and the description and analysis of the representative case examples of the online elementary spoken Chinese classes in three colleges and universities in Liaoning Province,and compares as well as verifies the theoretical and practical data results obtained from the survey.In the meantime,it objectively evaluates the actual teaching effect of the online elementary stage spoken Chinese classes in English medium language,and summarizes the common and individual problems.Chapter 4 makes recommendations for the use of English medium language in online elementary stage spoken Chinese language classes based on the research study.The recommendations include the range of proportions to be used in each aspect of teaching,exactly how to use it,and finally strategies and directions for the development of teachers’ English medium language assisted teaching skills.The concluding chapter summarizes the main contents,draws conclusions of this study,and briefly explains the shortcomings of this thesis. |
