Research On Homologous Words Involved In "Read As" In Shuowen Jiezi

The theoretical study of Chinese etymology cannot do without the support of a large number of word materials of the same group.At present,scholars have carried out a large number of work of linking words of the same group based on ancient books and documents in the Qin and Han dynasties,which greatly enriched the Chinese word materials system of the same group and provided continuous corpus support for the study of Chinese etymology.The "Read as" materials in Shuowen Jiezi(hereinafter referred to as Shuowen)have four forms of expression: "Read as X","read as XX","read as X with / read as with X" and "X read as X",and five functions: "reflecting homologous relation","reflecting phonetic relation","reflecting synonymous relation","reflecting false relation" and "reflecting allogeneic relation".At present,the academic research on "Read as" in Shuowen is mostly limited to the discussion on its nature and function.Based on the 760 "Read as" materials in Shuowen,no scholar has used scientific theories and methods to sort out the "Read as" and "Read as" of the recorded words of the same family,and then found that there are similar words of the same family that the academic circle has not paid attention to.Based on a comprehensive analysis of 760 "Read as" materials in Shuowen,this subject uses the sememe analysis method of homologous words proposed by Wang Ning,and refers to the ancient phonetic system constructed by Wang Li to sort out104 groups of "Read as" and "being Read as" of homologous words,and then links104 groups of homologous words.There are 76 groups of homologous words which have not been paid attention to in the academic circle.The 104 homologous words have three types of pronunciation: "same sound","close sound" and "sound transformation",while semantically there are two types: "same" and "connected".On the one hand,the research on the "Read as" related congeners in Shuowen can provide more new congeners for the theoretical research of Chinese etymology,and contribute to the addition of congeners system.On the other hand,it can provide a new perspective for the academic circle to study the "Read as" in Shuowen,and provide more materials and evidence for the study of Xu Shen’s etymological thoughts.In the process of linking and analyzing these 104 groups of homologous words,we find that Mr.CAI Yonggui’s "Chinese character family theory" has a certain reference value for the study of Chinese homologous words.It is embodied in the study of the association and etymological meaning of the same family words recorded by the same phonological characters,the study of the etymological meaning of the same family words recorded by different phonological characters,the judgment of the phonological words recorded by the same,similar or related sounds,and whether the synonyms with the same semantics are the same family words.In addition,the comprehensive application of the relevant research results of Chinese character family theory and several methods of word association of the same family can help us to find many new words of the same family which have not been paid attention to in the academic circle.
