In recent years the demand for class interpreting is increasing with the rapid development of foreign aid training projects. This thesis is written taking the author’s consecutive interpreting practice at the Seminar on Development and Management of Service Outsourcing for Developing Countries(Online)sponsored by the Department of Commerce of Hunan province as the research object.Affected by the epidemic, the training program is carried out in the form of live streaming and includes lecture interpreting and cloud-visiting interpreting, featured with live class and live interpreting. The thesis describes the task background and the interpreting process of the live classes.Through case analysis,it summarizes the interpreting difficulties in the reception of source language, the main problems in the interpretation and other factors that possibly affect the interpreting results.Based on the theory of interpreter’s subjectivity, the thesis discusses how the interpreter presents subjectivity in practice and utilizes the subjective initiative to solve the above three kinds of problems. It is concluded that interpreters can improve the interpretation quality by adopting appropriate interpreting skills, balancing brain memorization and notes and full preparation.Meanwhile, interpreters are required to flexibly transform into various roles such as translator, live streaming anchor, assistant and facilitator in the live classes for a smooth running of the interpreting task.In the whole process of interpreting, interpreter’s subjective initiative is fully reflected. The research results of this thesis are intended to provide a reference for future live class interpreting. |
