The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 edition)points out that English teaching should play the leading role of core literacy.As an important skill in discourse learning,reading skills are crucial to the cultivation of students’ core literacy.Therefore,how to effectively improve students’ reading literacy is a problem that English teachers must think about.However,in the practical teaching,especially in rural schools,there are always many problems.This research was conducted under the guidance of the theory of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude,the theory of recent development area,the theory of teaching process optimization and the theory of input hypothesis.Using the questionnaire survey method,test paper test method,comparative analysis method,individual interview method and other research methods,the stratified teaching mode was applied in the English reading teaching in rural junior high schools.The research focuses on the following questions: First,whether the stratified teaching mode has an obvious effect on English reading teaching in rural middle schools compared with the traditional teaching methods? Second,the aspects of the stratified teaching mode of English reading in rural middle school teaching has a greater influence on students?Third,what are the problems that should be paid attention to in the application of stratified teaching mode in English reading teaching in rural middle schools?This study takes the author’s rural school students as an example to explore the implementation of stratified teaching mode according to the current situation of English teaching in rural middle schools.The author divides the experimental class students into A layer,layer B and C layer.After four months(one semester)of stratified teaching practice,the collected data were analyzed through SPSSAU online analysis tool and questionnaire star online analysis tool,and the conclusion concluded that the stratified teaching mode is of great help to students in layer A,and the effect is not good for layers B and C,especially students in layer C.Therefore,the author believes that the important problem that needs more attention to in the implementation of stratified teaching mode is the cultivation of students’ learning habits and willpower.In addition,the author also summarizes the application procedures and implementation principles of stratified teaching for English reading teaching in rural junior middle schools.As the theoretical quality and teaching skills of the research teachers need to be improved,the research still needs to be improved and perfected.
