The proposal of core literacy brings the quality of thinking to the attention of a larger number of teachers.According to the file called English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 Edition,2020 revision),thinking quality mainly refers to the ability in logical thinking,critical thinking and creative thinking.The file called English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)specifically describes it as students’ thinking level in understanding,analyzing,comparing,inferring,evaluating,creating,etc.However,in classroom practice,students fail to show strong abilities in logical thinking,critical thinking and creative thinking.Teachers fail to pay enough attention to the cultivation of the quality of thinking.The research tools used in this thesis are developed based on the theory and practice of developing the quality of thinking in English teaching home and abroad.In the research,English teaching based on the cultivation of the quality of thinking is carried out in lower grades in junior high school(which refer to Grade 6 and Grade 7).Methods of interview,case analysis,classroom observation method and test data analysis are employed to record the dynamic changes of students’ quality of thinking before the research,during the research and after the research.The research conclusions are as follows:(1)The implementation of English teaching based on the cultivation of the quality of thinking in lower grades is feasible.(2)The implementation of English teaching based on the cultivation of the quality of thinking in lower grades can effectively improve the academic performance of students,especially in reading and writing parts.(3)The implementation of English teaching based on the cultivation of the quality of thinking in lower grades can improve students’ abilities in logical thinking,critical thinking and creative thinking.(4)The implementation of English teaching based on the cultivation of the quality of thinking in lower grades can help students develop good learning habits,choose appropriate learning strategies.(5)The implementation of English teaching based on the cultivation of the quality of thinking in lower grades can develop students’ interest in learning and improve their willingness to learn. |
