The Novel To Live Uygur Translation Studies

In Yu Hua’s novel To Live,an outsider’s point of view is used to describe the human condition in a unique historical setting.As a work of art,To Live also has profound historical and literary significance.Chinese minority languages have benefited from Yusupjan Walit’s Uyghur translation of To Live,which has made it easier for great Chinese literature works to reach a wider audience.On the basis of existing translation theories and by reviewing relevant literature and summarizing the Uygur language translation features of the novel To Live,this paper focuses on translation strategies,translation methodologies and translation skills for translating the novel.This paper aims to uncover the flaws and errors of Uygur language translation To Live,and try to put forward optimization countermeasures,and assess the effect of Uygur language translation To Live.This paper also aims to consolidate professional knowledge and enhance translation skills by studying the Uygur language translation To Live.There are three sections in this paper: an introduction,a main body and a conclusion.An overview of the thesis’ objective and significance,the current state of research,and the research methodology and innovation are all provided in the introduction section.The main body is constituted of five chapters:Chapter I summarizes the features of Uygur language translation To Live,such as correctness,coherence,literary and popularization.Delving into the translation techniques including addition,abridgement and conversion,Chapter II examines domesticating and foreignizing strategies,as well as the literal translation,free translation,combination translation,and synthesis translation methods.Chapter III attempts to propose improved countermeasures such as careful vocabulary selection,comprehension of bilingual cultural background,and flexible choice of translation methods,in response to the problems of incorrect terminology,misunderstanding,omission,and mistranslation with the Uyghur language translation.Chapter IV investigates how To Live was translated into Uyghur,and concludes that the translation retains its original style,conveys its content easily and makes the characters’ images more vivid through the use of metaphors.Chapter V highlights the author’s insights of translation experience,improvement of literary attainments,enhancement of bilingual translation ability,and accumulated cultural knowledge gained by the research of Uyghur language translation To Live.The conclusion sorts out,outlines and summarizes the research.
