In the 20 th century,various social changes have taken place around the world.With the continuous development of society,art has generated various ideological trends and collided with each other.As a traditional form of artistic expression,under the influence of the industrial revolution,the birth and application of photography technology has shaken its position unprecedentedly.Gerhard Richter,as a representative figure of German new art,stands out in this artistic trend and enjoys a certain international reputation.Richter has always loved art and adhered to the way of painting creation,constantly seeking new breakthroughs in traditional painting art forms,and expanded the definition and expression language of painting,making painting art a new possibility after experiencing impressionism,postmodernism,Dadaism,expressionism,and pop art.This paper takes the study of image language in Gerhard Richter’s painting art as the topic,and takes image language as the starting point.Using the method of topic divergence,this paper studies and discusses the choice and transformation of image language in Richter’s painting art in different periods.According to Richter’s painting works in different periods,this paper analyzes the formation of "media" thinking in the evolution of his painting art,and finally explores the ideological value and spiritual dimension in his painting art.
