| With the national promotion of New-type Urbanization policy,the rural region which is fallen behind the metropolitan one in economic area,has had much more development than before nowadays.And many youths living in metropolis has begun to return to hometown as the Returning Youth.And the birth of this group of youth also brings a new perspective for studies on homecoming writing.In this paper,it would be considered as a special perspective with the help of Embedding-and-Disembedding theory from Charles Taylor to study on some selected literary works and to analyze the transformation of identities of Returning Youth.In the introduction part,the conception and features of Returning Youth is settled down firstly by comparing to Educated Youth（Zhiqing）of 20thcentury.Then some selected literary works on homecoming writing in recent years would be discussed and collated by their inner relation.Starting with the non-fictional homecoming writing represented by China in One Village written by Liang Hong,the thesis focuses on the improvements made by Xiaochang and Shu Feilian on that Leaving-Returing-and-Re-leaving the classical homecoming writing model.Through the discussion,the topic about the identity issue of Returning Youth and its resolution would be referred,too.Additionally,the recent studies on homecoming writing are collated and analyzed that most of them concentrate on cases of non-fictional works with a few of them focusing on holistic inquiry.And among those studies,the critique on newly literary works about Returning Youth written by contemporary artists is much fewer.Chapter one:By taking Selling Tobacco written by Zhao Shuli and Life written by Lu Yao as examples,the phenomenon that educated youth of 20thcentury born on rural areas mostly had a dream of becoming urbanites,is discussed in this chapter.And it figures out that this phenomenon isn’t only a simple result made by modern culture or education but also,to some extend,triggered by the unreasonable political and economic system at that time.The three major differences brought by this system couldn’t match the expectation of people’s pursuit of happiness,which means the construction of social background was not suitable for the development of existing productive forces,and it would result in the average disembedding among people from rural areas because in that time the best way for them to pursuing happiness is becoming urbanites.Chapter two:After entering metropolis,people born on rural areas found out their dream of becoming urbanites is unrealistic.They couldn’t be a real urbanite but a rootless individual,like Cai Shuiqing from The Rain Dampens the Smoke written by Xu Yigua,or Yangke from The Odes of Songs writtern by Yan Lianke,which are trapped in mental confusion.In order to counterattack this confusion,Returning Youth from Another Country written by Weiwei and Glory Days written by Sun Pin emerged and chose to return home.However,their way home also met some problem like building their identities between metropolitan area and rural one in a background of bi-disembedding.And in this chapter,the reason for their returning journey and the solution to their confusion would be discussed.Chapter three:In chapter two,Sun Pin points out the way to solve the problem is to find the everyday life in nature.To discuss it,the local character has to be involved.Hence,taking Putian-Xianyou region as an example,the transformation of homecoming writing in this area is collated.And then the original fiction The Return of the Native has been studied as a case to answer the question that how Returning Youth re-embedding hometown through emotional connection and integration of community as a bridge to being annexed into the great community in rural area. |
