A Report On Guide Interpreting In Da’an Nenjiang Bay National Wetland Park

In recent years,tourism has become one of the industries with the fastest growth rate and highest openness in the global economy.With a yearning for the beautiful natural scenery,profound history and culture,and mysterious customs of the Eastern countries,more and more foreign tourists are flocking to China.In this process,the role of interpreter is particularly important.This report is based on the author’s practice of guide interpreting for a friend from New Zealand at the national 4A-level scenic spot,Jilin Da’an Nenjiang Bay National Wetland Park.The recording is then transcribed into text and used as the data.Before the task,the author collected relevant information about Da’an Nenjiang Bay,including its history and culture,characteristics of its attractions and ecological planning,etc.For the proper nouns related to culture and species,the author consulted the relevant dictionaries in advance and sorted them into a glossary.This paper takes this practice as the core research object,sums up the difficulties encountered in the task,and mainly elaborates the interpreting of culture-loaded words,four-character phrases,and poems and couplets.Based on the analysis of the source language and the three rules of Skopos Theory,the interpreting tactics are proposed respectively,that is,transliteration plus annotation,omission and paraphrase,and finally a summary of the practical task is presented.It is hoped that this practice can be conducive to the tourism development in the author’s hometown.Meanwhile,through the analysis of difficulties and interpreting tactics in this guide interpreting,it is also expected to provide references for other interpreting learners.
