A Report On Guide Interpreting At West Lake From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Guide interpreting plays a vital role in facilitating inter-cultural communication,conveying the cultural connotation of tourist attractions and promoting the development of tourism.This report is based on the interpreting practice by the author at the West Lake scenic area in Hangzhou.The report enumerates and analyses difficulties and challenges the author encountered in the practice.In addition,from the perspective of Skopos theory,this report adopts the method of case analysis to summarize interpreting methods and techniques utilized in the task including transliteration plus annotation,paraphrasing,addition,omission and shift for the typical problems in the process of this guide interpreting.It is in the hope that these interpreting methods and techniques can help obtain the better cross-cultural communication and improve the quality of interpreting.
