Career goal disengagement is the behavioral tendency of individuals to withdraw their efforts and commitment to their previous career goals and move away from their original career goals after a loss assessment of the original career goals.Students living in a collectivist culture have behavioral tendencies that are easily disturbed by the external environment. When individuals are in the process of implementing their career goals, the negative feedback information received about their self-occupational goals will have some influence on their subsequent behavioral tendencies.Based on the above background, this study investigated the relationship between negative career goal feedback and career goal disengagement using a questionnaire survey, and examined the mediating role of career outcome expectations and the moderating role of proactive personality in order to reveal the underlying mechanism of the influence of negative career feedback on career goal disengagement. This study translated and revised the existing foreign research tools to form the Career Goal Disruption Scale.Taking college graduates as samples,174 college graduates were selected in the initial test, and the reliability and validity of the translated and revised scale were tested to ensure that it can be used as a research tool for the subsequent formal test.In the follow-up formal investigation, this study takes376 college graduates as research samples, adopts the revised scale that was verified at the initial test and the widely used mature scale as research tools, and measures the negative career feedback, career goal separation, career outcome expectation and active personality of college graduates, and verifies the research hypothesis by using relevant statistical methods. The results are as follows:1.In terms of demographic variables, there are significant differences in the spatial sub-dimension of career goal progress and career goal detachment in negative career feedback in terms of family location, significant differences in career outcome expectation in terms of gender, and significant differences in proactive personality in terms of professional category.Specifically, compared with rural college graduates, college graduates with urban home location have more limited space for career goal progress, urban college graduates have a stronger tendency to disengage from career goals than rural college graduates, women have higher career outcome expectations than men,and science and technology college graduates have a higher level of proactivity than liberal arts college graduates.2.There are pairwise correlations among negative career feedback, career goal separation, career outcome expectation and active personality. There is a significant positive correlation between negative career feedback and career goal disengagement,a significant negative correlation between negative career feedback and career result expectation,a significant negative correlation between career result expectation and career goal disengagement, and a significant positive correlation between active personality and career goal disengagement.3.Negative career feedback and its sub-dimensions positively influence college graduates’ career goal disengagement, specifically: the higher the scores of negative career feedback and its career goal progress, career goal suitability and career goal progress space dimensions, the stronger the tendency of college graduates’ career goal disengagement.4.Career outcome expectation plays a part in mediating the influence of negative career feedback on career goal disengagement, specifically: the higher the negative career feedback, the lower the career outcome expectation of college graduates, which leads to their stronger tendency to disengage from career goals.5.Proactive personality further moderates the mediating role of career outcome expectations in the effect of negative career feedback on career goal disengagement,as evidenced by the fact that when receiving low negative career feedback, college graduates with low proactive personality have higher career outcome expectations compared to those with high proactive personality, which in turn reduces their tendency to disengage from their career goals.Based on the above conclusions, this study believes that we can analyze and adjust the feedback information about college graduates’ career goals and improve their career outcome expectations,so as to change the phenomenon of college graduates’ career goal separation,And the content of career feedback can be appropriately adjusted for college graduates with different characteristics.
