The Causes Of Chen Xianzhang’s Artistic Style

Chen Xianzhang,known as Gongfu and called Baishazi,was a native of Baisha Village in Xinhui,Guangdong Province.He was the initiator of the Ming Dynasty’s Xinxue,who inherited Cheng Zhu’s philosophy and inspired Yangming’s Xinxue,and played a bridging role to the academic style of the Ming Dynasty.Taking Chen Xianzhang as the mainstream calligrapher of Lingnan calligraphy in the Ming Dynasty,this paper carries out a research on four aspects,including Chen Xianzhang’s life,calligraphy artistic style,the causes of calligraphy artistic style and the enlightenment of his own learning of calligraphy.The research focus is the analysis of the causes of Chen Xianzhang’s calligraphy artistic style.Through the method of literature research,comparative research,analysis and generalization,and the method of combining theory with practice,it is concluded that the formation of Chen Xianzhang’s calligraphy style cannot be separated from his region,thoughts,friends and writing tools,which makes up for the shortcomings of the analysis of Chen Xianzhang’s calligraphy style and the causes of his calligraphy style.Finally,combined with my own practice and taking the book study view mapped by Chen Xianzhang’s mind as a reference,I personally feel the calligraphy art of Chen Xianzhang’s integration of calligraphy art and heart,meaning in the book and lyrical with words.
