Abstract/Summary:
The Yuan Dynasty was another dynasty established under the rule of a minority group in China’s history, and the grassland civilization and the Confucian civilization had a contradictory and mutually integrated direction during this period. For the study of Yuan dynasty calligraphy, the scholarly community has mostly focused on Zhao Mengfu and the Zhao School group of calligraphers and the "retrogressivism" literary style he proposed, and the materials discussed are mostly heirloom ink works, and the center of calligraphy is mostly the southern Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the process of the evolution of the calligraphic style in the early Yuan Dynasty and the ideological root factors behind the evolution of the calligraphic style,so as to establish the relationship between the calligraphic style in the early Yuan Dynasty and Zhao Mengfu’s "retrogressivism" literary and artistic propositions, and to sort out the relationship between the calligraphic style in the early Yuan Dynasty and Zhao Mengfu’s "retrogressivism" literary and artistic propositions. This paper is divided into four parts. The paper is divided into four parts: first,a literary and historical interpretation of the inscriptions of the "Shaanxi School Confucian Students’ Praise and Virtue Tablet" in the Xi’an Stele Forest;second,an analysis of the "the reverence for Yan Zhenqing"calligraphic style of the tablet;second,an exploration of the relationship between the calligraphic style of the tablet and the development of Confucianism in the Yuan Dynasty, and a search for the deeper ideological roots of the calligraphic style of the tablet;and finally,a discussion of the roots of the calligraphic style of the tablet in the context of my own study of the "Shaanxi School Confucian Students’ Praise and Virtue Tablet. Finally, the paper will discuss the experience of creating the "Shaanxi School of Confucianism and Virtue Monument"and apply the broad and ancient dots, the open and clear structure, and the solemn and neat chapter style of the monument to future regular script calligraphy. This paper has good significance and value in studying the evolution of the calligraphic style from the early Yuan Dynasty’s the reverence for Yan Zhenqing style to Zhao Mengfu’s retrogressive style, and it also identifies the influence of Confucianism on the calligraphic style in the Yuan Dynasty in the course of the evolution of the calligraphic style, and integrates the study of the history of calligraphy with the history of ideology and culture in order to obtain more valuable research results in the cross-disciplinary study.
