Writing is an important export skill in English learning,but for most Chinese students,writing is relatively weak.How to help students develop a positive attitude towards English writing,improve students’ writing performance and adopt effective writing teaching methods have become the common goals of teachers.At the same time,in the writing part of the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education in2022,the comprehensive application requirements of the English language ability of students in compulsory education have been significantly improved.Therefore,the effectiveness of writing teaching method is crucial.However,in practice,English writing teaching in junior middle school,problems such as single teaching method,stereotyped teaching purpose,emphasis on result over process,emphasis on input over output emerge in an endless stream,which makes students’ writing performance stagnant and even leads to negative emotions of students.This phenomenon has aroused the concern of many English teaching scholars.Therefore,it is extremely necessary to adopt a new teaching method in junior middle school English writing teaching.The production-oriented approach is to solve the problem of emphasizing input and neglecting output in English teaching,providing theoretical guidance for solving the problems in the present writing teaching.Therefore,the author applies the production-oriented approach to junior high school English writing teaching to explore its effect on students’ writing attitude and achievement.Based on the theory system of production-oriented approach and the "three hypotheses" of second language acquisition,this study selected 106 students from two classes of a middle school in Yan’an as the research objects and conducted a 10-week writing teaching experiment on the two classes respectively.Two questions were mainly explored:(1)What influence does production-oriented approach have on students’ writing attitude in junior middle school English writing teaching?(2)How does the application of production-oriented approach in junior middle school English writing teaching influence students’ writing proficiency? In the process of this experiment,questionnaire,interview and test methods are adopted to test the teaching effect.The results show that: firstly,the production-oriented approach has a positive effect on improving students’ writing attitude.The author used SPSS25.0 for comparative analysis from the three dimensions of emotional experience,behavioral tendency and cognitive behavior of the questionnaire as well as the data of the interview results before and after the experiment.The mean values of the three dimensions after the experiment were all higher than those before the experiment.Secondly,the application of production-oriented approach in junior middle school English writing teaching can effectively improve students’ English writing proficiency.Changes in students’ writing proficiency are measured by their scores on the pre-and post-test papers.Before the experiment,there was no significant difference in writing performance between the two classes(p=0.826>0.05),but after the experiment,there was a significant difference(p=0.000<0.05).Through the application of production-oriented approach,it brings some enlightenment to junior middle school English writing teaching.First,the driving link pays attention to the communication and relevance of the creation scene.Second,to promote the link of teachers to choose learning guidance and guidance;Third,we should pay more attention to the evaluation.
