According to many research findings of English writing teaching in junior middle school,students’ major problems of English writing are mainly reflected in negative feelings about English writing and poor English writing proficiency.Therefore,this research combines the production-oriented approach(POA)with English writing teaching in junior middle school,conducting English writing teaching mode based on the POA with a view to increasing students’ English writing interest and promoting their English writing proficiency.The author conducts English writing teaching experiment on the basis of the POA in Guiyang No.18 Junior Middle School from September to December in 2019.95 students from two classes of Grade Nine are selected as research subjects,among which one is regarded as the experimental class(EC)and the other is viewed as the controlled class(CC).During the first week of the semester,the author gets the hang of the fact that English writing proficiency of students in two classes is similar through the result of the pre-test.Based on the result of the first questionnaire survey,the author finds that these students have some writing problems such as strong fear,low interest and bad writing habits.From the second week to the sixteenth week,the author carries out English writing teaching based on the POA in the EC and applies the previous teaching approach the process approach in the CC.During teaching experiment,writing topics are selected from English textbook Go for It!.Under the guidance of the POA,students are required to complete productive tasks step by step and they are encouraged to revise classmates’ writing and evaluate writing samples with English teacher.And then,the post-test and the second questionnaire survey are used for testing the outcome of English writing teaching based on the POA.Drawing an analogy between the results of two tests,the author finds that the writing score of students in the EC is higher than before,while that in the CC doesn’t change obviously.Meanwhile,the result of the second questionnaire survey and the interviews unfold that students in the EC are more confident and interested in English writing than before.Besides,these students realize that they have some improvements in terms of material collection,topic development and language expression.Through this research,it is clear that English writing teaching mode based on the POA is not only conducive to alleviating junior middle school students’ pressure of English writing and improving their English writing habits,but also beneficial for them to have interest and confidence in English writing with the help of communicative scenarios,humanistic topics as well as teacher-student collaborative assessment.At the same time,the POA provides students all kinds of productive tasks,which enable them to have more opportunities to practice English and promote English proficiency.By and large,English writing teaching mode on the basis of the POA offers junior middle school students favorable conditions for further development of English writing. |
