Culture is an important context for language learning.As part of the standard teaching content of the language curriculum,learners understand the target language culture through the language curriculum and generate cultural identity.At the same time,language and culture courses can also help learners to enhance global awareness and cultivate a multicultural worldview.The revised edition of International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education(2014)regards cultural competence as one of the components of comprehensive language application ability and interprets it from four aspects: cultural knowledge,cultural comprehension,cross-cultural ability and international perspective.In order to explore the level of cultural competence of intermediate and advanced Chinese learners,this paper takes the final competition of the 2016-2020 Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students as the starting point,and makes reference to the International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education,and analysis these contestants’ Chinese performance,according to which put forward some teaching suggestions from the aspects of teaching content and teaching methods.Through the analysis,the Chinese performance of these intermediate and advanced Chinese learners in the competition reflects their mastery of cultural knowledge,cultural comprehension,cross-cultural ability and international perspective,and they can communicate fluently in Chinese,successfully complete the Chinese competition,show their Chinese proficiency,and have the corresponding cultural ability.Accordingly,based on the International Curriculum for Chinese Language Education,combined with the competition form of Chinese Bridge and relevant content of international Chinese teaching,the teaching methods of cultural competence of intermediate and advanced Chinese learners are as follows: based on the form of Chinese Bridge,video teaching,keynote speech,role-playing,situational communication and extracurricular practice can be used to enhance their cultural competence;based on the teaching content and the teaching method of Chinese as a foreign language,their cultural competence can be cultivated by comparative teaching method,cognitive method,thematic teaching method,mind mapping method and group cooperative debate method.
