Cries in the Drizzle,Yu Hua’s debut novel,explores the connections between various characters from the perspective of a child or through a montage of events.Yu Hua uses his signature hilarious writing style to convey the era’s mixed emotions: love and loathing,respect and scorn,wrath and fervor,through the interactions between characters.Without ever going to extremes,the author gives the reader a sense of the complexity and diversity of human nature by considering its finest and worst sides throughout the work.In addition to the novel’s unique artistic characteristics and literary value,Dilnur Abdurusul’s Uyghur translation of Cries in the Drizzle has undoubtedly contributed to the dissemination of characteristic literary works,aided in the popularization and exchange of literature and culture,and enriched the translation work between the national language and Chinese minority languages.The examination of the Uyghur translation of Cries in the Drizzle is therefore of significant academic value.This paper consists of three sections: the introduction,the body,and the conclusion.The introduction describes the paper’s objective,significance,existing literature,methodology,and originality.The body is composed of four chapters:Comparing the original text and Uyghur translation of Cries in the Drizzle,the first chapter is devoted to the analysis of the translational characteristics of the work,which emphasizes the personalization of characters,focuses on the subjectivity of the target language readers,and reflects the artistic effects.The second chapter uses cases to examine the translation principles utilized in the translated work: the principle of purpose,the principle of coherence,and the principle of fidelity;as well as the translation strategies of naturalization and dissimilation.The third chapter investigates the translation methods and techniques,including word-for-word translation,sense-for-sense translation,transliteration,transliteration-sense combined translation,and comprehensive translation,as well as techniques of addition,subtraction,and conversion.The fourth chapter identifies the deficiencies of incomplete translation,misunderstanding,and lack of emotion in th e Uyghur translation of Cries in the Drizzle and puts forward suggestions.The conclusion is a summary of this paper.
