| As a country with a rich poetic tradition,Chinese poetry has had a profound influence on the East Asian cultural sphere,including Japan,which has a highly developed culture of Chinese poetry due to its deep connection with China.In Japan,the creation of poetry is diverse,and it is not only the exclusive domain of scholars and literati,but also a popular art form practiced by people from all walks of life.In China,there have been abundant achievements in the study of Japanese Chinese poetry,including discussions on poetic discourse,poetic schools,and poetic styles.In this article,the focus is on the study of samurai in Japan,a field that has been overlooked by scholars when compared to the study of Chinese poetry by literati,nobility,and monks.The social position of the samurai and their literary attainments have been gradually elevated over time.In the eyes of the public,it is difficult to associate samurai with Chinese poetry,and throughout history,there have been few works of Chinese poetry written by samurai,making them especially valuable.After the samurai class gained political power,the shogunate began to cultivate samurai who were both skilled in literature and martial arts,and samurai gradually became an important group in Chinese poetry creation.This article mainly uses the research materials of Fujikawa Hideo’s "Collection of Chinese poetry in Japan," "Collection of Ci in Japanese Chinese Poetry," Kikuchi Shirojirō’s "Japanese Poetic Discourse Series," Kondo Haruo’s "Encyclopedia of Japanese Chinese Literature," Inoguchi Tsugushi’s "History of Japanese Chinese Literature," and Yu Yue’s "Selected Poems of Dongying" to explore Japanese Chinese poetry from a new perspective by analyzing the samurai Chinese poetry included in these collections.There were 76 poets and 897 poems.The main contents of this article are as follows:In the first part,the concept of the samurai class is introduced,and based on this,the definition of samurai Chinese poetry is established,along with the basis for the definition and the significance of the study.According to the general rules of samurai poetry creation and changes in the political situation in Japan,the creation of samurai Chinese poetry is divided into three stages for analysis.In the second part,the beginning stage of the first stage(dynasty and Goshu)is introduced,there were 6 poets and 80 poems,providing an overview of the development of the samurai class during this time,the creation of samurai Chinese poetry during the budding period,its main features,important representative poets and their works.Further analysis is carried out using Date Masamune as an example,examining the artistic characteristics and ideological content of the works.In the third part,the second stage: Flourishing Period of Development(Edo Period)there were 24 poets and 182 poems.This section introduces the development of the samurai class during this period,including their level of education and the basic essence of bushido.It analyzes the creative overview,main characteristics,important representative poets and works of samurai Chinese poetry during the flourishing period,and further analyzes the artistic characteristics and ideological connotations of works,represented by Ishikawa Jozan.In the fourth part,the third stage: New Changes and Decline Period(Bakumatsu and Beyond)there were 46 poets and 635 poems.This section introduces the development of the samurai class during this period,as the samurai class gradually declined.It analyzes the creative overview,main characteristics,important representative poets and works of samurai Chinese poetry during the new changes and decline period.Further,it analyzes the artistic characteristics and ideological connotations of works,represented by Ito Hirobumi and Nogi Maresuke,and deeply compares samurai poetry with poetry of contemporary literati.In the fifth part.Comparative Studies of Samurai Chinese Poetry.This section analyzes the characteristics,influence,and dissemination of samurai Chinese poetry through studies on literary works by female samurai,Chinese and Japanese military commander poetry,and comparisons between Japanese Chinese poetry and Haiku.Currently,there are studies on samurai and Chinese literature separately,but there are few studies on Japanese samurai Chinese poetry.This article attempts to demonstrate the unique charm of samurai Chinese poetry and present a more abundant and full picture of Japanese Chinese literature culture. |
