This paper aims to explore the sound space of music and investigate the status and development of sound space in phantom electronic music from the perspective of presentation and composition theory, respectively. The author argues that the presentation of sound space should be divided into two stages: pre-tape and post-tape music.Because of the emergence of electronic music technology, the presentation of music has changed significantly, and "space" is really used as a creative material by composers. The article briefly discusses the attempts of traditional music composers to create space before tape music from the perspective that,no matter how cleverly the work is arranged and how flexible the instruments are positioned, the most significant limitation is ultimately the architectural space. The presentation of all instruments must be in a concert hall or indoor or outdoor stage,a fixed size of space that cannot be changed from the beginning of the work when the work’s use of sound space is at the stage of echoing dialogue. After the tape music, the presentation of music changed;the sound was no longer generated by the vibration of real instruments, and the loudspeaker was its primary carrier. The Acousmonium sound reinforcement system proposed by Fran?ois Baylor, the second president of GRM,was the masterpiece in sound reinforcement at that time, also known as the loudspeaker orchestra, which was used for the first time in 1974 with up to 80 loudspeakers and even more.Utilising the pendulum position, angle, and number, adjust the frequency response range to affect the sound space. In this system, there is a unique occupation,"space interpreter" he needs to be very familiar with the work and the sound reinforcement technology in the performance of the work to give human emotion.Dennis Smalley is the most solid explorer of Electro-acoustic music in the phantom category.In1997,he proposed the theory of "Spectromorphology",a theory of how to listen to that calls for a return to the origins of music rather than the means of its development.Based on the theory of spectral space in 1997,the theory of "Space-form" was proposed in 2007,which presents a framework for the study of sound content, considering in particular how sensory experiences other than hearing are involved in influencing the hearing and even the understanding of space.
