| In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s economy, the level of motorisation of urban and rural traffic has increased significantly and traffic safety work has become increasingly complex and dangerous. The various situations faced by traffic police officers in their daily work have led to the emergence of occupational stress problems.Once the negative emotions caused by stress persist, the impact on personal health and social safety is incalculable. Therefore, occupational stress reduction for traffic police officers is a very important task. The effectiveness of music therapy as an emerging therapeutic tool for stress reduction has been widely demonstrated in studies in different population areas. However, there is less research in the field of police officers and there is more room for development. In this paper,we propose the hypothesis that music therapy can reduce occupational stress in traffic police officers and explore this through an empirical study. The significance of this study is to suggest possible methods of stress reduction for the traffic police in China, and to expand the scope of music therapy implementation and research in China. In this study,24 traffic police officers were divided into an experimental group and a control group,12 in each group, and the experimental group underwent 8 sessions of music therapy group stress reduction activities for 60 minutes each. The experimental group underwent eight sessions of music therapy group stress reduction activities for 60 minutes each.Based on the specific nature of occupational stress among traffic police officers, this study targeted the experimental group through a combination of active and receptive music therapy methods, while the control group underwent no intervention.Data on stress values were collected by means of a scale before and after the intervention and statistical analysis of the data was carried out using SPSS software to obtain quantitative results. The researcher also interviewed the group members to obtain a qualitative report. After combining the quantitative results with the qualitative report, the final conclusion of the study was that the music therapy intervention was effective in alleviating the occupational stress problems of traffic police officers and reducing stress value levels. |
