| Anxiety is a common psychological problem,especially among university students.As the frontal lobe area of the brain,which is responsible for emotions and control,has not yet developed further in the university student population,it can lead to mood swings and impaired social functioning when faced with factors such as maladjustment in the living environment,academic stress,fierce social competition,academic and employment difficulties,relationship frustration and interpersonal tensions,and anxiety can have a negative impact on the social and quality of life of university students.The university students often have difficulty in self-regulating and relieving their anxiety and therefore need appropriate interventions to help these students.It is an effective non-pharmacological intervention to regulate the physiological and psychological state of the body and relieve anxiety.It is an effective non-drug intervention to regulate the physiological and psychological state of the human body and relieve anxiety.Although several studies have been conducted in China and abroad to demonstrate the effects of receptive five elements music on the regulation of anxiety,relatively little research has been conducted in the university student population.Therefore,the aim of this study is to investigate the effects of receptive five elements music on the regulation of anxiety in university students,and to use the results of this study to promote and apply this non-pharmacological intervention to help more university students to alleviate their anxiety and improve their quality of life and mental health.In this study,a randomised controlled intervention design was used to select university students enrolled in Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine as the subjects.The subjects who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into three groups according to the random number method:the five elements music group(27),the western music group(27)and the control group(26).In this study,receptive music therapy was used to individualise the five elements in the five elements group,while the western music group was given fast music in major keys and the control group did not receive any music therapy and could choose either five elements or western music at the end of the intervention.The study period was 6 weeks,and the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)was used as the primary outcome indicator,while the Self-Reporting Inventory(SCL-90),the Sleep Self-Measurement Scale and heart rate analysis were used as secondary outcome indicators to investigate the relationship between anxiety and these indicators in university students.The data were analysed using SPSS 26.0.The data were analysed using SPSS 26.0 software,and the intervention results were obtained through intra-group,inter-group and multiple comparisons,and correlation analysis.The five elements of music therapy were investigated for their effect on the regulation of anxiety in university students,and the most effective type of music for relieving university students’ anxiety was found by comparing it with receptive Western music.Through the study,it is expected to provide more effective interventions for university students’ anxiety.The main findings of the study are as follows:1.receptive five element music therapy can effectively regulate the anxiety of college students,after six weeks of music intervention,the anxiety scores of the five element music group decreased significantly,and the control group could not go about regulating their anxiety well in daily life.2.The effect of the receptive five elements music therapy on the improvement of anxiety was comparable to that of the receptive western music therapy,and both were better than the control group,but the significant effect of the receptive western music group on the regulation of anxiety appeared earlier.3.The receptive five elements music therapy had a positive effect on the mental health and sleep quality of the university students as well as on the reduction of heart rate. |
