Total Physical Response is a method of teaching a second language proposed by James Asher after doing a lot of experiments and referring to the second language learning mechanism.This method allows students to learn in a relaxed atmosphere and fully stimulates their Chinese potential.Comprehensive course is the core course of Chinese as a foreign language.It focuses on cultivating learners’ language ability and communicative competence.Affected by the epidemic,online teaching of Chinese as a foreign language has become the mainstream,which is not affected by time and space and meets the needs of learners in learning Chinese.However,online Chinese teaching also has its limitations.Affected by network delays and instability,learners’ enthusiasm for learning will be reduced,resulting in a dull classroom atmosphere.Therefore,we believe that the combination of total physical response and primary Chinese comprehensive course can optimize the online teaching design,so as to carry out teaching activities smoothly and improve the classroom teaching effect.Based on the theory of total physical response and its related theories,combined with the student-centered,teacher-led principle,the principle of intuitionism,the principle of structure,function and culture combination and the principle of listening before speaking.This paper takes the second class of 2022 advanced study in International Han College of Henan University as the teaching object.I Was Born In the Year of the Monkey the first lesson of the sixth volume of YCT Standard Course published by Higher Education Press,is designed for the online teaching of primary comprehensive course.This design not only covers important grammar points,but also includes students interested in the Chinese zodiac and Spring Festival cultural knowledge.In order to carry out online teaching smoothly,at the beginning of teaching,we use electronic questionnaire to understand students’ basic information and Chinese level,and make specific analysis of teaching content,teaching materials and online teaching environment.The teaching effect and learning effect of this class are evaluated through after-class tests and teachers’ evaluation.Based on the results,the advantages and disadvantages of this teaching are analyzed,so as to further discuss the problems that need to be studied in order to optimize the teaching design.The online teaching design of I Was Born In the Year of the Monkey is divided into four parts.The first part is introduction;The second part is the theoretical basis of instructional design,the guiding principles and the application premise of total physical response in the comprehensive course.The third part of the teaching design of the specific program and implementation steps;The fourth part is the evaluation and reflection of teaching.According to the teaching effect of this time,we know that it is feasible to apply the total physical response method to the primary Chinese comprehensive course,in this environment,it can relieve the pressure of students learning Chinese,fully mobilize their enthusiasm and initiative,so as to improve their Chinese level. |
