Abstract/Summary:
The fundamental language abilities of learners in the process of language acquisition are developed during the early stages of learning.The primary objectives of the comprehensive Chinese course are to cultivate learners’ basic listening,speaking,reading,and writing abilities,and to serve as a link and core role in coordinating the teaching of various skills courses such as listening,speaking,reading,and writing throughout the entire course system.The optimization of the teaching and learning process in the design of the comprehensive course requires a focus on the teaching of basic language elements while also considering the cultivation of listening,speaking,reading,and writing abilities.The choice of teaching methods based on the comprehensive course design is crucial and directly affects the class teaching and learning outcomes.Overseas Chinese teaching differs from domestic Chinese teaching,as learners in non-target language environments are easily influenced by factors such as language,culture,thinking patterns,and living habits,resulting in various transfer errors.Even with great effort,it is difficult to achieve the same learning outcomes as in a target language environment,especially in the early stages of learning,where learners are prone to be fatigue and even loss due to inappropriate teaching methods.The flipped classroom teaching model can effectively compensate for the shortcomings of language learning in non-target language environments and can more reasonably arrange the teaching and learning of knowledge acquisition,consolidation,and internalization.The supplement of information technology at the technical level is an effective way to implement flipped classroom teaching.Our original intention for designing and researching the Chinese comprehensive course was to focus on the application of the flipped classroom teaching model.We discussed the feasibility of the flipped classroom model in the basic Chinese comprehensive course from three aspects:learners’ study levels,teaching objectives,and selection of teaching methods.This has led to the formulation of relevant design theory foundations and methodological principles.Based on the analysis of relevant teaching factors such as textbooks,learner individual factors,and teaching environment,we designed the teaching of the primary Chinese comprehensive course,"He Helped Me Get This Job".We decomposed the teaching process and reasonably arranged the presentation,explanation,practice of teaching contents and summary,and further provided ideas of designing.Finally,we conducted classroom observations,visits,and testing to evaluate the effectiveness of the design and reflect on it.We hope to provide a case study that can be used as a reference for the teaching of Chinese comprehensive courses under the flipped classroom teaching model.
