With the development of teaching technology and the spread of various educational theories,a variety of teaching methods and theories have been applied to Chinese as a foreign language.During the epidemic period, research on online Chinese language teaching flipped classrooms continued to increase. This teaching model advocates flipping knowledge transmission and knowledge internalization, where students complete learning tasks before class and use valuable classroom time to carry out activities, promoting students’ internalization and absorption of knowledge. And this teaching model is very consistent with the multimodal teaching theory, which emphasizes that teachers use rich multimodal resources to coordinate multiple modalities and fully mobilize students’ multisensory learning.Multisensory learning refers to fully mobilizing students’ multiple senses for learning,"All knowledge starts from the senses, and sensory perception is an important prerequisite and starting point for students’ intellectual activities."(Referred from Xu Juan,2012)Both need to give full play to the role of modern multimedia teaching technology and online education resources, and the combination of the two can highlight each other’s advantages. Therefore, the author tries to combine the two to design a multimodal flipped classroom teaching mode, and selects a lesson from the teaching materials used by the real Chinese class to make a teaching design, and then applies it to teaching to investigate the actual teaching effect of the design, improve some problems existing in the current class, and explore new ideas for the application of multimodal flipped classroom teaching mode to Chinese as a foreign language. This article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction section, which introduces the research purpose, content, and methods of this article. It also sorts out relevant literature and summarizes the content closely related to this article.Chapter 2is the theoretical foundation section, which mainly introduces the relevant concepts and analytical framework of multimodal teaching theory.Based on this,a multimodal flipped classroom teaching model and teaching process have been developed.Chapter 3 combines the teaching model and process from the previous chapter,as well as previous research results, and takes Lesson 18 of "HSK Standard Tutorial(3)" as the research object, and the natural class of "Public Chinese" in our school’s School of International Exchange as the teaching object,to produce a complete teaching design.Chapter 4 recorded the complete implementation process and tested the teaching effectiveness of this teaching design through questionnaire surveys and analysis of teaching data. The results showed that the teaching design had good results, was loved by teachers and students, and mobilized students’ learning enthusiasm. At the same time, the model also has something to be improved,so we put forward some targeted suggestions, hoping to provide reference for related Chinese as a foreign language.Chapter 5 is the conclusion, which states the research process, conclusions, findings, and shortcomings of this article.
