| At present,biotechnology has penetrated many fields.In the field of medicine R&D,biotechnology has made great development and played an important role in major disease prevention,diagnosis,and treatment,thus developing a booming biomedical industry.Against the backdrop of increasing close technological exchanges between countries around the world,many domestic readers are eager to be exposed to the report of foreign mainstream media and cutting-edge science and technology information,thus making it important and necessary to translate foreign sci-tech news.The thesis is based on the latest medical sci-tech news from the Economist in 2022.Firstly,this thesis makes a brief review of the current research status of medical sci-tech English news translation at home and abroad.Next,the translation of words,sentences,and discourse is elaborated and analyzed based on the exposition of the linguistic features of the source text.At the lexical level,this thesis focuses on the usage and translation strategies of technical terms and proper nouns,polysemous words,acronyms.At the syntactic level,the translation problems of headlines of sentence type and long and complex sentences are taken into discussion,and the translation problems and corresponding solutions are concluded.Meanwhile,at the discourse level,it also focuses on the discourse cohesion and discourse coherence.The present study aims to contribute to the field of English-Chinese translation in the domain of medical sci-tech news,with the expectation that the findings of this research will serve as a reference for practitioners and enhance the quality of the author’s translations in this domain. |
