This translation practice report focuses on medical research papers specializing in cardiovascular diseases. These original medical papers were all derived from the PubMed Central(PMC),which is the searching database for biomedical information authorized by the National Medical Library(NLM)and developed by the National Center for Biological Information(NCBI).PMC is used to record and archive biomedical documents, which is the most authoritative biomedical literature database in the field of medical science. The original papers are based on clinical medical research for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases by means of clinical trial and data analysis, including the therapies of atrial fibrillation, heart failure and myocardial infarction, which is a cutting-edge topic in the cardiovascular system. The target readers of this translation practice are professional medical practitioners.Dynamic equivalence initiated by Eugene.A.Nida stresses on the natural equivalence of target text(TT)and source text(ST)and intends to produce similar responses from the target receptors as that of original receptors. This practice report adopts dynamic equivalence theory to guide the translation of English for Medical Purposes(EMP).Through case analyses, the application of dynamic equivalence to the EMP texts is applied and discussed. The aim is to achieve equivalent comprehension from the targeted readers, while remaining faithful to the original texts, taking into account of the targeted readers' cognitive and professional level. This practice report aims to translate medical texts specializing in clinical trials and use dynamic equivalence as a theoretical guide to explore the techniques and methods in the translation of EMP from lexical and syntactic levels. The author briefly introduces the source and content of translation materials, expounds the development and application of dynamic equivalence, analyzes the characteristics of EMP,explains how to use dynamic equivalence as guidance through detailed analysis of typical examples in translation practice, makes a research on translating strategies of the professional expression of clinical trials,as well as medical terminology and long complex sentences, and sums up the basic strategies of EMP.The author hopes that this translation practice report can provide reference and research material for the translation of EMP,achieving the goals of learning and communication on cardiovascular disease worldwide, and provide some references to others.
