Documentaries are one of the important means of artistic recreation of the real world through the language of the lens,presenting the true feelings of the real world through artistic expression,so as to achieve the purpose of conveying humanistic care and thought-provoking.Educational documentaries have gradually appeared on the indoor and international stages with the train of the times,reflecting the current real educational situation and dilemma.This article takes the author’s graduation work,the educational documentary " ‘Play’ the French" as the main research case,through the cross-cultural core in the film,the multi-dimensional analysis of image narrative theory is carried out,and the practical creation and theoretical research of educational documentaries are given a broader research space.The article summarizes the research results of video narrative theory and the current situation of documentary creation on educational themes,vividly combines and demonstrates the works and theories through the case study method,and provides some suggestions and tips for late adopters with the experience summary method.The article strives to sort out and summarize the historical development of Educational Documentaries in China and the characteristics of the current video narrative of educational documentaries at home and abroad,so as to achieve theoretical guidance for personal works "‘Play’the French".The analysis of the works mainly takes the narrative perspective,narrative structure and narrative language in the image narrative theory as the research content,and finally summarizes the narrative significance and value embodiment of the image narrative theory in the educational documentary containing cross-cultural perspectives,and reflects and summarizes the research according to personal practical experience.
