Consecutive interpreting(CI)has high requirements for an interpreter’s bilingual competence, bilingual transferring ability and coordination between various skills,so in real-life tasks, the problem of high interpretation anxiety(IA)is common among interpreters. However, the previous studies on IA just generally analyzed its impact, the causes and solutions often less mentioned or totally neglected, let alone classifying IA.A more detailed categorization of IA and a more systematic discussion of the signs, causes and solutions corresponding to different IA will help interpreters to solve their problems in various situations. This paper is an interpretation practice report on the National Conditions Forum:Vision of China 2025 through the 14 th Five-Year Plan based on Gile’s Effort Model. The Model clearly divides the elements of different stages of consecutive interpretation, with the help of which IA in CI practice is specifically divided into listening analysis anxiety,notes-taking and reading anxiety, memory anxiety and reproduction anxiety.Following the mistakes in the interpretation practice, the author provides case analyses of different IA on its signs and causes and puts forward solutions. The common causes for all types of IA consist of the interpreter’s lack of bilingual knowledge, lack of bilingual transferring skills, the speaker’s fast speaking rate and dense information in the source text.Effective coping strategies contain making full preparations before interpretation, firmly grasping the key information of the speaker, using notes-taking skills to improve efficiency, using visualization to improve memory performance, making adjustments to the interpreter’s psychological state when necessary. This study can hopefully help reduce interpreters’ IA and improve their interpretation quality.
