This paper is a report on the practice of English-Chinese consecutive interpretation, based on an online consecutive interpretation of an art course of Quanfei Overseas Study Consulting Service Co.,LTD,which focuses on the introduction of art elements and application of design principles in art works. This report selects part of the content of this period of the course as the analysis object, and records the challenges encountered by the author in the interpretation practice in case study. The challenges include unfamiliar terminologies, incomplete notes-taking,accent influence, unreadable notes, poor translation output quality, etc.Based on two different phases of Gile’s effort model, these challenges are classified into two categories and analyzed respectively.Based on the case analysis, relevant solutions are proposed in five aspects: improving listening comprehension ability, expanding the scope of professional knowledge collection, reasonable energy allocation,note-taking training, and self-monitoring training of translation output.Through this interpretation practice, the author believes that a quality interpreting performance cannot be achieved without the work of before, during and after interpreting. For pre-interpreting work,it is necessary to establish a professional vocabulary list, understand the speaker’s accent in advance, log in and test the online platform before interpreting.During interpreting,Gile’s effort model should be reasonably used to allocate the energy to listening comprehension,note-taking and short-term memory. In addition,post-interpreting reflection is also essential, and interpreters need to conduct timely summary and reflection after interpreting,so as to find solutions for improvement.
