With the development of the times,the public’s demand for public space has gone beyond the need to use the physical and material aspects of public space,hoping instead that public space can play an active role in enhancing interaction,promoting public life and reflecting public values.The public’s demand has stimulated a different kind of vitality in public space,but it has also gradually revealed a mismatch between the pursuit of public space goals and social needs,a mismatch in values,and a lack of vitality,leading people to call for the essential "publicness" of public space.In this paper,the study of public space focuses more on the interpretation of the social meaning of "public" than the focus on "space" in the field of architecture,i.e.,the public value of public space expressed through various forms.The main research idea is to build an evaluation model of public space public performance based on space production theory,public value theory and public participation theory,and to identify problems through feedback data from visitors through case studies,and then to dig out the causes through in-depth interviews with space managers,so as to more accurately identify the reasons for the deviation and lack of public value in public space,and then to propose targeted optimization suggestions for the return of public value in public space.This paper provides a reference path for the return of public space values.This paper is divided into four parts: theoretical research,model construction,case study evaluation,and countermeasure research.First,in terms of theoretical research,this paper takes public value theory as the perspective,compares and analyzes existing research results,considers publicness as a value vision of public space,and deeply interprets the connotation of spatial publicness.By sorting out the theoretical foundations and practical results of public space publicness measurement,this paper refines the value judgment of "public space" and "publicness",and extracts the three most basic characteristics of spatial publicness,namely,publicness,heterogeneity and commonality.Secondly,in terms of model construction,we combined the actual situation of Chongqing Jinshan Yiku public space,which is representative in terms of planning and design,functional configuration and operation management,to build an effective publicness evaluation system.In order to realize the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the evaluation results,three rounds of expert questionnaire data were used to determine the weights of the 3 criterion level and15 program level indicators in the evaluation system by applying the hierarchical analysis method,and then the respondents’ evaluation data were imported and the qualitative to quantitative transformation was realized by using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.Again,after analyzing the data obtained from the evaluation,the problems in the public space performance of Chongqing Jinshan Yiku are identified,and then combined with in-depth interviews with the public space operation managers,the causes are explored and briefly analyzed to provide support for the subsequent optimization strategies.Finally,the analysis of the reasons for the lack of public performance of Chongqing Jinshan Yiku is combined with the public management perspective to propose optimization suggestions,which will provide reference for future research on the evaluation of public space publicness and provide practical guidance on how to better realize the public value in the improvement of public space.
