A C-E Translation Report On Ecological Belief And Civilization Of Ethnic Groups In Yunnan (Chapter Five)

This paper is a C-E translation practice report.The original text is selected from the book “Ecological Beliefs and Ecological Civilization of Yunnan Minorities”,written by Professor Sheng Jun,President of Yunnan Agricultural University.The book mainly introduces ecological beliefs,characteristic ecological agriculture and practices of ethnic groups living in river valley,alpine areas,karst areas,and transitional zone between plains and mountains respectively.The party and the country have always attached great importance and concern to the cultural undertakings of ethnic groups.Yunnan is home to many ethnic groups and has created diverse and colorful culture.At the same time,there are few texts that systematically study Yunnan’s ethnic groups cultures from an ecological view,so it is innovative to select this book for translation.According to text type theory,the original text is an informative text,characterized by strong logic and long and difficult sentences.The text focuses on the transmission of content.The original text includes many cultural-loaded words with national characteristics,four-character idioms and proverbs;the language is concise and simple;Since the original text boasts strong ethnic characteristics,and the translation process involves two different cultures,the translator chooses Professor Hu Gengshen’s eco-translatology theory as a theoretical guide.The translation report includes translation task description,original text analysis,translation theory and case analysis.The translator mainly analyze difficulties encountered in translation process,and tries to solve them by adopting different translation strategies,techniques and methods from the perspective of language,culture and communication dimension under the guidance of eco-translatology.Through this translation practice,the translator hopes to summarize some translation methods and skills in dealing with culture-loaded words,four-character patterns and proverbs in ethnic group text with unique languages and cultures on the basis of what have neen learned,and to provide references for the translation of similar texts.
